On 23rd of April
Barcelona celebrates Sant Jordi. That day you will find a lot of rose flower
stands on the street, nearly at every corner in all districts. Bookshops and
publishing houses will put a stand on the street to present and sell their
books (e.g. on Rambla de Catalunya and Plaza Catalunya). That day you can
mostly expect a discount of 2-5% for books (even 10% are possible at selected
bookshops). Just ask or look out for the offers.
The traditions says that you
give a rose to the ladies and
a book to the men. Nowadays it is fine to buy a
book for the
ladies, too.
